This term stands for the "Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults and Children". RCIA is a process directed for those who are searching and inquiring about the Catholic Church. The journey begins in early September with an orientation night followed by regular Tuesday evening classes through to Easter.

Phase One is a period of inquiry sometimes called the pre-catechumenate. It is the first phase of the journey of faith when the group gets acquainted over dinner fellowship and discussion after a video presentation.
Phase Two marks the beginning of formal instruction in the faith. We learn the basics focused on Jesus, His teachings, the Church and the Sacraments.
Phase Three is a period of purification and enlightenment which coincides with Lent, a time of spiritual renewal for the whole Church.
Phase Four incorporates the initiated into the life of the Christ through reception of the Sacraments at the Easter Vigil and "entering more deeply into the mystery."

Volunteer Opportunities...
Roles within the parish for RCIA ministry include sponsors who come from within the parish community to journey, support and pray for the candidates. An ideal candidate is a practising Catholic, prayerful and spiritually mature who is willing to attend all Rites and classes with their candidate. Sponsors start attending in late November at the first Rite of Acceptance through to the Commissioning Mass and celebration after Easter.
